Wrist Arthrography Set-Up and Procedure

Equipment:

Arthrography tray, syringes

Extra sterile towels

Sharpie marker and non-sterile hemostat

Solutions:

Xylocaine 1%

Isovue-M 300 (10-20cc)

Scout films:

If recent (<30 days) plain film exam on PACS or available on film, no scouts required.

Otherwise, three view wrist

Prepare consent form and stamp with patient ID

Please note: This study may require two sessions, depending on pattern of ligamentous tear and leakage.

Initial injection:

two compartments injected (mid-carpal and DRUJ)

spot films at 1-2 frames / sec. during injection

overheads: radial & ulnar deviation PA, clinched fist PA

Follow-up injection (as needed):

30-45 minute delay to allow for initial contrast to dissipate

Patient off fluoro table and in waiting room

Repeat skin prep and perform final injection

Same spot and overhead filming as needed
