Case 19 Discussion

Vertical shear pattern of pelvic ring disruption. An asymmetric axial load is delivered to one side of the pelvis, usually involving a significant fall, causing the hallmark finding of elevation of one hemipelvis relative to the other. Note the left sacral fracture on both the plain films and CT below. (44.400)
