Case 6 DiscussionAnkylosing spondylitis with fusion of SI joints and the "dagger sign" or "trolley track sign". These signs indicate the linear midline band of sclerosis secondary to ossification between adjacent spinous processes. The outer "rails" of the "trolley track" are the fainter, parallel bands of sclerosis formed by fusion of the apophyseal joints. (AS, 33.740, 33.400) ref: Sartoris DJ, Musculoskeletal Imaging. The Requisites. 1996, Mosby. Pp. 155-159.
