Case 7 DiscussionOsteofibrous dysplasia (OFD) (aka. ossifying fibroma). This entity is usually seen in the anterior tibial diaphysis with occasional involvement of the adjacent fibula. The lesion begins in the anterior cortex and may subsequently involve the meduallary space. The lesion usually has a sclerotic boarder with multiloculated/multiseptated areas, elongated and often with a "ground glass" appearance. Bowing of the tibia is frequent. Differential diagnosis includes fibrous dysplasia and adamantinoma (angioblastoma), which can mimic OFD. However, adamantinoma is more aggressive and may metastazie. (45.3139) Ref. Resnick, D. Diagnosis of Bone and Joint Disorders (3rd Edition). pp 3659-3662 (OFD), 3882-3884 (adamantinoma). An additional example of OFD:
