Case 55 Discussion

Fraying of the bursal surface of the supraspinatus tendon. Note how the T1WIs miss this lesion, which relies on the fluid present in the bursa for demonstration. Since the undersurface of the cuff is intact and there is no leak of contrast into the subacromial bursa, the T1 images cannot detect the partial tear. Tendonopathy is suggested, however, on the T1WIs.
