Case 3c DiscussionCarpal coalition between the lunate and triquetrum. The scapholunate ligament is intact. The ulnar attachment of the TFCC shows increased signal intensity and deformity suggesting a tear at this site. However, there was no surgical or arthroscopic confirmation of TFCC pathology despite its suspicious appearance. Lunotriquetral coalition is the most common form. Coalitions can occur in isolation or as part of a congenital syndrome. In the latter (syndrome related) case, the fusions tend to affect bones in more than one carpal row, whereas in the former (isolated), the bones are in the same carpal row. Resnick. Bone and Joint Imaging. WB Saunders, 1989,p.1078.
