Case 12c Discussion

Medial talar contusion and soft tissue edema laterally. The inversion mechanism can be inferred from the pattern of injury, with the talar contusion from the impact of the talus on the distal tibia/medial malleolus (compression side) and the soft tissue disruption medially (tension side), in this case disruption of the calcaneal-fibular and anterior talofibular ligaments (not shown on these images).
