Case 25c DiscussionAcute tear of common flexor tendon and chronic tear of the ulnar collateral ligament. The large traction osteophyte off the medial aspect of the coronoid process is not uncommon in baseball pitchers and reflects the chronic valgus stress to which the elbow is subjected in the pitching motion. "Pitcher's elbow" on plain radiographs includes such an osteophyte as well as an osteochondral lesion of the capitellum from compression/shearing on this side of the joint.
