Case 41c: Labeled Images

Normal ligamentous anatomy of the lateral aspect of the ankle. Axial T2 weighted fat supressed images of the ankle from distal to proximal. Notice the steep posterior and oblique course of the CF ligament, making it often difficult to visualize on routine sequences. Some authors have recommended plantar flexed, axial oblique images to visualize this structure. The CF ligament is just deep to the peroneal tendons.
