Case 73b Discussion

Occult fracture, distal femur (barely included in this field of view). Recent plain films would have answered the question, probably without MR. However, if all that was seen was periosteal reaction, then the presence of the linear, low intensity line on the MR images would make the diagnosis of occult fracture and exclude tumor. (45.400)
